mmm, toasty

Oh, tomato soup with cheese on top… Oh, sourdough bread with butter on top, broiled to perfection… Oh fall/winter comfort foods… I love you. You make me feel so nice and warm.

Yesterday, I raked my back and front yard. It was nice. Tomorrow, I get to steam clean carpets after work.

I think I prefer being grown up instead of stuck in the middle, aka my 20s.

For the love of dogs…

leave a comment »

Yesterday while Kevin and his brother in law wired the house for cable, I took Desirae and the mutts to the dog park. She was blown away by how big it was and how much space there was for her dog to run. We go to Westcrest which I must admit is a bigger one, totaling 5 acres.

There are no dog parks or off leash area in Olympia, Lacey, or Tumwater. There is only one in Tacoma and one in Lakewood. Seattle has 11. Redmond , Mercer Island, Edmonds and SeaTac all have one. O rly?

Seriously people! We need more dog parks! For the dogs! And for the humans.

SODA and COLA are great things for dog parks in King County. You other counties, get your stuff together and get a dog park. Some people live in apartments and their dogs need to get out. Some people like to take their dogs to the park to socialize them. And some people just like to take their dogs to the park so their dogs can just be a dog in a large enclosed space.

Dogs love parks just as much as dogs love trucks.

Christmas music, I secretly love you!

leave a comment »

I am so tempted to flood my iPod with Christmas music. A total waste of money, I know. I’m hoping Starbucks will have some freebie Christmas music soon, doubtful though.

At one point in my life I hated Christmas music. Retail will do that to you. But then last year, because of my store’s location, we didn’t play Christmas music. My work is in a very Jewish neighborhood. I sort of missed Christmas music for the first time in my life.

Now that we are moving into a house, I’m all stoked for the season! I can go into my office and geek out over all of my magazines and reciepes and dream about all the awesome things I could do but won’t.

The one thing I love about iPods are I can have all the craptastic music I want on it and no one else really has to listen to it but me.  Yes me, I could listen to anything and you’d not notice… I’d just have to live with sore ears for a few hours after geeking out over things from NPR and The New Yorker.

I have to say…

Backing into a early 80s Volvo is pretty much like backing into a tank.

Volvo=unscathed

Civic=in need of a new bumper.

Sorry car… I’ll have to wait until after the first of the year to get you all fixed up. But, at least when I do, that old small scratch will finally be gone as well. After almost 5 years, you need a little TLC any way.

November is almost over?! WTF?

leave a comment »

I love ending vacation with a cold. Who doesn’t? I gonna sit here with my Umcka cold sipping stuff and some Breath Deep tea. Um, I guess if I am fighting a cold I should be smart and put on socks.

Whistler was nice, as usual. My parents were my parents, as usual…. Going down the water slide in the family pool was more fun than I would have imagined. It snowed 2 days after we left and rained the whole time we were there. I like Canada. I wish I could take a week off every month.

Kevin’s sister and her husband are coming up this weekend. Her husband is going to help Kevin wire the whole house for cable and internets. Hopefully his sister and I can get a chance to go out and do some girly stuff like go window shopping. I’d be happy just to get out and drool over stores full of Christmas decorations.

I have 78 podcasts to listen to, I best get started on them!!

That Burt’s Bees lip balm than managed to get washed and dried… yeah it also managed not to ruin all of my clothes it was washed with!!! Score, we can’t afford to replace much of anything right about now.

oh vacation, who doesn’t love you?

Tomorrow we get pile into my mom’s Honda and drive to Whistler. Yes, I chose an education and have spent years paying it off and my idea of a vacation is one where someone else foots most of the bill. I’m 30 years old and sometimes I’m kind of lame.

This morning Kevin asked me about socks. “Are all of my boot socks clean?” How the hell should I know. Socks some how seems to be a very reoccurring topic in my life. 1) do I have any clean ones? 2)should I buy some new ones? 3)why are you wearing mine? 4)I forgot mine, can I borrow some of yours? 5)ooh, these are pretty with stripes! I currently am washing clothes and hopefully all the socks in the house… any sock without a know match gets the shove. I want all of you old random socks out before we move to the new house.

5 awesome things about vacationing in whistler

  1. no need for a clock or watch
  2. the possibility of sitting in an outdoor hot tub while it is snowing
  3. the awesome view of mountains covered in snow pretty much north, south, east, and west
  4. not having to answer my cell phone
  5. as long as you can still walk upright, you can pretty much drink as much as you can afford
  6. What diet?

Cheek waterer…

Wow. I’ll be honest. Obama’s acceptance speech? Yeah, it made me cry. Listening to to people’s stories about how long they waited to vote? Yeah, got a bit misty eyed.

4 years ago I was asking people what dumbass should we vote in to office this time, sadly we choose the same one. Just listening to his speech made me feel so hopeful about this country and that things will be different. And like he said, it may take more than a term but it will happen.

I came across so many people today that were doing super or great or relieved. We sold out of all of our newspapers by 8:45, probably sooner but that was what time it was when I noticed they were gone and I didn’t have one. (I love the paper, I get one almost every weekday.) I got mine from a newspaper box outside of a Denny’s. I excited to read it.

I have to admit, this is the first year I’ve noticed more about the economy and the election and I must say, I can’t wait to see where this all goes.

Can I just say…

Thank you for not voting that old man John McCain and that awful Sarah Palin wench into office. Now we have what, 77 days left of Bush? Buh bye.

I love my coast, not a red state on the map!

Please go back to your normalish routine.

XOXOX
