And then 4 became 3.

Porter is gone. I know where he is going, but I’m tricking myself into believing he’s going to have an amazing set of parents in his next excursion after he is evaluated… good bye, pal. OH MY GOD! The mother fucking drama llama is following this dog… I’m so fucking fed up with it now! I no longer have a fucking pet but a foster animal until Tuesday…

So. After bawling, a lot, I decided that I needed to go to the gym this moring and bust my ass. But, I had to pick stuff up at my folks house and spent to much time there. My kick ass workout only lasted an hour due to having to meet up with someone else for lunch.

Being upset and having great music really pushed me to work harder.

And then we said goodbye…

Sadly, we are going to be giving our dog, Porter, back to the place from which he came. When we orginally took him, it was stated that we could if it didn’twork out.

He’s an amazing dog. He’s not dog agressive. He’s not food agressive. He’s lazy. He’s loving. He sort of listens to commands, this would improve with training. He’s great… except that he has growled at me once and Kevin twice.

He growled at me once when I was trying to put him in his crate. I actually thought he might try to turn around and bite my hand. He apparently doesn’t like to have his collar pulled on. I put his choke chain on and this helped.

He growled at Kevin once when Kevin was trying to drag him from the front yard when he didn’t recall, again this was when Kevin was trying to pull on his collar. And, last night when they were playing on the couch.. and not a playful growl either. Kevin was playing with him the same way he would play with Abigail.

The problem is this… if he’ll growl at his owners, he could end up biting someone. We like to have our dog with us. He could bite someone else or a kid. He won’t be able to either one of our parents’ house due to them having cats. He wouldn’t be able to go to Kevin’s family’s ranch and run free. If he were to go places with us, he would always have to be on a leash. We are starting to gain more small children in our lives.. not ours but friends and family.

We are both truely sad by this decission, but we both know it is the best possible one. As I fight through my tears, I know that I’d be very upset if he hurt anyone I know or made a small child fear animals.

I love you Porter, I’m very sorry we can’t keep you. I’m very sad to have to let you go. I’m also afriad of what your future might entail…

I love how the dogs go ape when the mailman comes up to the house, so he can you know, do his job and put the mail in our box… 6 days a week.

I love how the the dogs bark up a storm in the living room, at creepy looking people walking up the sidewalk that runs in front of our house.

But what I really love, is how they get all scared and run and hide when I run the vacuum.

Good work dogs! Dorks.

Welcome to our home, Porter!

with one comment

So. For quite some time Kevin and I have been looking for another dog to add to our childless family. We went to shelters, we had leads from friends, and we delt with crazies on Craigslist. Kevin’s bestest friend, Martin, has a co-worker… who has a daughter… who had an ex blah blah blah and there was a dog who needed a home.

This is Porter! He’s about a year and half old. He’s a pit bull, his nuts are going away next week. He’s very calm and sweet, not dog or food aggressive. He’s a beautiful dog and I’m glad he fits with us.

My bed misses me.

leave a comment »

I’m having one of those moments where I’m pretty tired and I’d love to go to bed….
But I still need to make the bed.
And I still need to finish cooking off my garbanzo beans. I love that I can buy a pound of dried garbanzo beans pretty cheap and cook them off myself and stash them in the fridge. I hate the fact that I have to soak them for about 10 hours before cooking them. I either have to soak them overnight, which rarely happens, or soak them all day and cook them at the end of the day. We’ve done the latter and it puts us at 11:10pm.
I’m an old lady and would like to go to sleep.
Actually… my plan is to walk to work tomorrow. Yup, I’m planning on walking the 4 miles to work. I’m kinda stoked and nervous about this. I will have to walk home the same 4 miles, up a steep hill. I’ll have to walk home those 4 miles because Kevin is out of town. I’m also not to sure about this because it puts me out of the house for about 11 hours. Abigail would be home for those 11 hours and would get fed 2 hours after her normal time. Plus, I wore my Frye’s to the dog park and have a blister on my heel that will most likely be gone in the morning due to the homeopathic stuff I took, but still a blister. I’m doing the West Seattle 5k next week, I don’t need any blisters when I do that! I want to do it easily, not all limpy gimpy.
The joys of life…

Some times the best days off are the ones filled with your favorite people and their dogs.

Kevin’s brother in law, Tim, turns 25 this weekend. Desirae planned a dy trip for them to go to the zoo. (they live in Olympia, so Seattle is more of a day trip for them.) She called and asked about parking and Kevin invited them for dinner. And then Martin, Chris, Arwen and all their dogs all got invited. Kevin then told Desirae to spend the night and bring the dogs. 7 people, 7 dogs!

Pizza have been bought, lettuce has been chopped, a cake is being made. Uno and croquet will be played. Led Zepplin will be heard. Drinks will be had, and we even have juice for the pregnant Arwen.

I’m so in love with living in a house with a back yard.
