Thank you.

In a world of high tech… emails, texts, voice mails and wall postings…

I truly believe that writing out a hand written thank you shows so much more appreciation.

After going on vacation and going on wonderful trade tours and tastings, I’m sending out thank you notes. Cute little cards with hard written babble in each one. I’m very grateful for anything people are willing to show, teach or offer me. I also believe that a small little jester made by a small little person like me shows that the company/group I work for really does care and appreciates the businesses we work with.

Speaking of this, I need to plan the little Christmas cards I plan on giving to my vendors and the people I work directly with. A crazy little stamping project with papers is rattling around in my head.

Thank you can be the greatest thing to come out of anyone’s mouth, yet I feel it isn’t used enough.

cherry! This fell out of the tree in my backyard.

I think it is beautiful. Nature makes the best art!

I ate it, and all was well.

My bed misses me.

leave a comment »

I’m having one of those moments where I’m pretty tired and I’d love to go to bed….
But I still need to make the bed.
And I still need to finish cooking off my garbanzo beans. I love that I can buy a pound of dried garbanzo beans pretty cheap and cook them off myself and stash them in the fridge. I hate the fact that I have to soak them for about 10 hours before cooking them. I either have to soak them overnight, which rarely happens, or soak them all day and cook them at the end of the day. We’ve done the latter and it puts us at 11:10pm.
I’m an old lady and would like to go to sleep.
Actually… my plan is to walk to work tomorrow. Yup, I’m planning on walking the 4 miles to work. I’m kinda stoked and nervous about this. I will have to walk home the same 4 miles, up a steep hill. I’ll have to walk home those 4 miles because Kevin is out of town. I’m also not to sure about this because it puts me out of the house for about 11 hours. Abigail would be home for those 11 hours and would get fed 2 hours after her normal time. Plus, I wore my Frye’s to the dog park and have a blister on my heel that will most likely be gone in the morning due to the homeopathic stuff I took, but still a blister. I’m doing the West Seattle 5k next week, I don’t need any blisters when I do that! I want to do it easily, not all limpy gimpy.
The joys of life…

The joys of love and my relationship.

with one comment

I love you so much.

Sometimes it hurts, but not in a bad creepy way.

Sometimes I wish we were married.

Other times I’m glad we aren’t.

And yes, sometimes I get so angry that you don’t help me as much with household chores as much as I’d like that I’d take all of my Fiestaware and throw it into a massive heap and say “clean that shit up now, douche!” and run out the door and blow my share of the rent on shoes, an amazing dye job, and new Coach purse.

I love you, but some times you drive me nuts… just as much as I drive you nuts.

this post was brought to you by a full bottle of wine.

dinner time, excellent.

After a long day, I get to cook dinner. I feel so lucky.

Kevin is in the kitchen right now washing dishes! while singing along to music from his iPhone. Ugh. Our music taste can be so right on or very very opposite. Um, and his sining is rather awful.

Dinner will be some easy ass Rachel Ray recipe. Yes, she’s kind of annoying. But, some of her recipes are really easy on nights like tonight, they also leave me wishing I would have come up with something so easy.

Planning for the new one.

Oh silly New Year’s resolutions. I don’t make them… but I do try to have ideas on what I want to achieve for the following year. But since I spent New Year’s day drinking, and the following day hung over, and worked all weekend… we have ended up at January 5th. By the way, happy Monday.

  • Back on WW. All those little things that have crept back into my diet? You’re g0ne. I CAN lose 50 pounds this year.
  • Do more 5ks. My plan is to run one sometime by the end of the year.
  • Take more interest in other people. I know I’m very self oriented.
  • Clean up! I am trying really hard not to be a slob. It takes work, thought and effort for me.
  • Drink wine, taste it, and take notes. This is mainly for work. I’m trying to move into something different. I need something that has new and fresh information. Also, enjoying wine is nicer than just chugging it.
  • Plan. I need to be better at planning dinners, bills, money, and all things.
  • Spend less, but buy nicer. I need to not buy coffees, magazines and meals when I can do all of it myself. The less I spend on little stuff, the more I can spend on nicer clothes, furniture and trips. Oh, and buy our house.
  • Learn. I want to learn about gardening, running, crafts, canning, composting, house repairs, design, beer and wine, and money.
  • Relax. I have been a little stressed the past few months. I need to chill out a bit.

So, that pretty much sums it up. Happy 2009! Obama becomes President in 15 days, I’m excited to see what the future might and might not look like.

gravity, it works.

Earlier week, I took a bubble bath in the normal main floor bathroom. Later that night I went to the basement to get something out of the dryer. There was almost 2 inches of water on the tile floor.

Who? What? Where? Why?

The basement is finished and everything is drywall. Drywall is nice and way fancy compared to some nasty basement ceiling but it also makes the pipes and drain inaccessible.

We call the landlord and he says it will be fixed soon. Hmm. So, 5 days later with a holiday in the middle… it is still in the process of being fixed. The drain pipes were replaced but a gasket seems to have been lost in the process and not replaced. Emptying a bathtub and having all that water rushing out at once makes a nice mess without the gasket. It seems that it mostly went between the wall and the foundation and came out at the low point in the floor.

At the moment it looks like so:

This goes to show that flipping any house, let it be one you got cheaply or one that you own and no longer want, isn’t a good idea. Cheapest bidder is not the best contractor… unless you’re getting a great friend or family discount. And seriously kids, a nice drain in the basement for random flood issues would be awesome.
