Farewell.

Today I was told that a great employee has left our store.

I can’t believe how distraught I am over this. I can’t believe I’ve shed tears over it. But I can believe it, too.

This person was such a back bone to our crappy little store for almost 2 years.

Good bye Montreux or Montague. You’ll be missed by so many. I do hope you keep in touch.  I hope your next adventure in life is a great one.

Dear co-worker.

Thanks for bringing a date/fuck buddy with you to see Pat’s band… Um, its really sort of odd that she shops at our store and we all recognize her but she’s never seen any of us before. Thanks for buying me a drink after calling me a pussy for only wanting 1 beer. Um, but I’m sort of weirded out that you found it okay to buy it for me with your date’s money? But seriously, if you have to piss, please take her with you or some thing! I hate small talk just to fill the void… it reminds me of that scene in Pulp Fiction. You’re a smart and nice guy but  I’d really really hate to be involved with such a player like you. I have to remember that you’re only 24, and it seems to be all us with the issues and you’re fine doing what you’re doing. Rock on.

Some times the best days off are the ones filled with your favorite people and their dogs.

Kevin’s brother in law, Tim, turns 25 this weekend. Desirae planned a dy trip for them to go to the zoo. (they live in Olympia, so Seattle is more of a day trip for them.) She called and asked about parking and Kevin invited them for dinner. And then Martin, Chris, Arwen and all their dogs all got invited. Kevin then told Desirae to spend the night and bring the dogs. 7 people, 7 dogs!

Pizza have been bought, lettuce has been chopped, a cake is being made. Uno and croquet will be played. Led Zepplin will be heard. Drinks will be had, and we even have juice for the pregnant Arwen.

I’m so in love with living in a house with a back yard.

If you’re going to wear bright lipstick, brush your teeth. Nothing says hot like staring at your mouth and wonder if the last thing you ate was a whole loaf of bread.

I’m going to a going away party tonight for my friend Jen. The crazy thing is I worked with her in the past at a spa 5 years ago, and she left me then, too. I asked her is she was coming back again, just to leave me again. She laughed and said hopefully not. I love ya Jen, good luck in Lake Tahoe!

I’m wearing bright red lip gloss, I brushed my teeth.

Old favorites make a comeback…

Last night was St. Valentine’s day. We’re big losers and don’t do romantic things, ever.

My old roommate from OSU was in town. We hadn’t seen each other since 2001ish. Her, her husband (he was our next door neighbor in the dorms), and their son William stopped by for dinner. I love that we hadn’t seen each other in years and could easily just pick back up as friends. A big slab of salmon was consumed. The boys yummed up the scotch. Cari and I talked it up.

I really hope to see more of them soon. 8 years between visits is way to long!

steel head is fish!

I love food.

I know a lot about different types of food.

I know very little about meat.

Today I learned that steel head is a type of trout. There is a huge piece of salmon, not steel head, living in my fridge. My old roommate and our old neighbor\her husband of years, are coming over for dinner on Saturday. We’ll be awesome and make them an awesome dinner.

Go meat!

Mmm, lunch.

I’m off today. I have a dinner date with an old friend.
Kevin got bit by some crazy bug or spider that left a huge blister on his wrist. He finally went to the doctor today, the blister showed up on Sunday. He chose not to go back to work.

Just now Kevin was in the kitchen making himself lunch. I heard him snicker. I tried to figure what he was doing.

“Sweet!”
(??)
“I are eating bachelor food!”
(looking at his plate) Did you make a spaghetti sandwich?
“Yes. It’s going to be awesome.”

Gross.

Happy Friday!

Watermelon juice? Years ago when I worked in a juice bar the summer was always fun, fruit flies by the platoons! But we used to make random fruit concoctions including stuff with watermelon. Today I got a free Evolution Watermelon juice. Let me tell you, it’s like summer in a container! And minus the seeds! And there was no extra crap in it, just juice! Um, but the price is a bit higher than you might pay for an Odwalla, but after hearing about this company, it might be worth it on those days I feel like blowing $4 on a juice.

Today was fantastically started by waking up at 5:30 only to realize I was supposed to have been at work a half hour prior… reseting the alarm time and setting the alarm are two different things.

I order this shirt from The Herbivore Clothing Co. I am not a vegetarian any more, but I really care about food and the way it is grown and processed and where it comes from. I was also stoked because I was able to order a large.

My mom took me shopping yesterday because she understands the whole “I’ve lost weight, and now I want to wear clothes that are closer to my size, even though I’m not done losing weight yet.” thing. Thanks mom, I love you. She lost 30lbs doing the South Beach Diet (um, she read the book, there was no online program when she did it) and has kept it off for something like 2 years. She looks great, I’m proud of her. She’s proud of me. But, when she was losing weight she had extra cash to spend on clothes and bought a whole new wardrobe. I’m excited because I can wear stuff from Ann Taylor Loft again without feeling like I’m squishing into everything, some thing yes, I squish… most things, no squish, but not always flattering. She bought me jeans that were $20 that I fit into. Even if I can only wear them for 2 months or something, $20.

I have a dinner date with an old friend from my OSU days in a week. Yay!

Summer has arrived in Seattle, thank god! 90 degrees tomorrow?!
