Spring means new stuff, right?

leave a comment »

Oh spring…

Since I’ve lost weight…( still in the 190s… ) I’ve bought a boat load of tops.  But, dude! you need pants to wear with those tops.

One of the biggest things I dread in life is trying on pants. I read the style and cut and I’m pretty confused. I have a larger butt, flat stomach, smaller waist, and huge thighs. Have you ever seen a tag with that fit on it? Yeah, me either.

I went to Nordstrom today because I found a pair of shoes I wanted. The gal came out with a size smaller and a size bigger. I totally would be fine if they would just come out and tell me I’m out of luck than them trying to convince me to try on a bigger size. I’m 32, my feet have been the same size since I was in the 7th grade. No shoes, well lets go up stairs…

I had an idea in my mind that I wanted to try on some skinny jeans. Yes, I’m behind the times… but a boot cut is supposed to help balance out my hips and crap. But lately, I feel like I’m wearing sails around my ankles and make more noise than I’d like when I walk. The first thing I saw were boyfriend jeans, I thought sure I’ll try them on.

So I’ve tried boyfriend jean on in the past and I really like the way they fit, but they’re not always had my size or they’ve looked way to distressed for my liking. I can wear jeans to work but, to many holes and I can’t.

I bought a pair. And the best but dumbest part is, I bought a size 10. 10! This shouldn’t be a big deal because they fit well and I don’t feel stuffed into them but holy crap, a 10. This is a huge deal to me because at my highest weight EVAR I bought a pair of jeans from Lane Braynt and they were an 18. A big person’s 18. Yuck. Not only is this a big deal, but this is also inspiring me to get my shit together and really work at losing weight again.

Oh Seattle spring, I love you. Amazing sun breaks followed by sudden down pours of rain. And, I love seeing so many adults dressed like they were dressed by toddlers…flip flops, shorts, and parkas!

THINGS I LOVE.

  • The long lasting BF with the broken motorcycle
  • a dog whom I swear should be hairless due to the amount of dog hair I find EVERYWHERE!
  • NyQuil. I usually don’t take to many OTC meds other than Advil… but yes, this saves the night! And apparently makes me snore like a chainsaw.
  • Settling insurance claims. I don’t love this actually at all, but I love that I finally settled it and felt like I was heard and that that negative energy is gone away…
  • Whole Foods 365 brand. Eeps. I work at a co-op and sometimes I stop into a Whole Foods when I’m near one. You can’t blame a store for being expensive if you are choosing to blow your budget on deli prepared items, cheese, wine and expensive juices. Be smart about any grocery shopping and you’ll be fine.
  • Paying off a credit card! Holy shit, I finally paid of my B of A credit card. All of it. And that sucker is closed, too. I’m stoked that the only real debt I have is my car and student loan… but someday there will be a house, too.
  • Green Monsters. So yeah, I’m liking this whole smoothie thing. But, it seems to take a bit of planning and a bit of time. I’m planning on doing this on my days off.
  • geraniums
  • Big ass salads. Thank you spring! I love salads but don’t eat as many in the winter as I should.
  • new tools for the kitchen
  • talks about Seattle in late 80s and early 90s, all brought on by a shitty Billy Joel song…
  • probiotics
  • cookbooks
  • spinach
  • office accessories
  • letting go
  • feta
  • new ideas from all the random and wonderful blogs on the clickernet
  • macaroons

Let it go.

Why is letting go so hard?

I’m my life I’ve let go of a lot..or come to terms with things being what they are… mostly an awful heart break, issues with my mom, bad medical guidance, and nasty abusive stuff. When I finally let these items go, I stopped crying over them. These items were huge and consumed my thoughts way more than I like to admit, this was a huge bit of my self-created suffering.

I’m so proud of myself for letting go of these things that were so huge to me… But then comes the little things… the insurance adjuster who like to talk to me like I’m 10 and interrupts me but likes to tell me to let her finish talking when I try to finish what I was saying. or the lab tech who messed up my Celiac test. or the medical office that insists that I only paid half of my co-pay (which has been the same for almost 8 years) but since I don’t have a receipt and paid cash, I can’t prove I’m right.

I find it sad that we so easily forget some of the great experiences and remember the ones that have created us pain or discomfort.

This is me, trying to let go of the negativity and savor the awesomeness!

Green monster!

leave a comment »

Mmm, tasty Sunday.

So I was all brave and made my first Green Monster! have you heard Green Monsters? I was scurred but I have no idea why.  Ha, actually I don’t like the blender we own and I hate washing it by hand.

Green Monster

My first green monster:

  • 2 fists of spinach
  • 3 ice cubes
  • 1/2 banana
  • 1 scoop amazing grass
  • 1 tsp maca
  • 1 squirt flax oil
  • 1 tsp flax seeds
  • 1 ripe ass peach
  • 1 tbsp almond butter
  • 1/2 milk
  • 2 pinches of xanthan gum

Ha,I threw a lot of tasty crap in mine! Not to shabby at all! I threw in the almond butter to use it up, I wish I had used a bit less of it. I don’t like the taste roasted almond butter, I prefer the raw. The xanthan gum really made this thicken up! I totally needed a straw but had the help from a spoon instead.

I could see how this would be a great way to get in some great stuff without having to really think about it. In 16 oz I had maca, greens, spinach, flax, nut butter, 2 servings of fruit, a serving of dairy and feel pretty content. I’ll make this again but it won’t be an everyday thing because I’m kind of lazy…

I hope you all are enjoying your Sunday, working or off. I plan on hanging out in sweats, roasting veggies, doing laundry and playing dj with all the great tunes that live in our house!

Cheers!

Love list 4.11.10

Yay, spring!

I may not be rich or famous and nobody might read my blog, but I’m pretty content in life. I’m sitting on the porch in a house we rent, my yard is mowed but still full of weeds. I’m wearing my Chacos, with my fleece and jeans. I’m drinking a microbrew, but it’s gluten free. I owe about $8k, but have only 1 credit card. I have a job that isn’t anything super fancy, but I make $4ok and get to wear jeans to work…and I have benefits!

I have no idea what I want to be when I grow up, but I’m totally fine with how things are going.

THINGS I LOVE.

  • The boy! Wow, he drives me nuts sometimes but I love him with all of my heart.
  • Abigail. This dog is the best dog evar! Ask around, everyone agrees.
  • trees full of blooms
  • back porches
  • pint glasses full of anything… we use them for water and or beer. Sometimes they chip, but I’ve also knocked one off the night stand into the wall and its still intact.
  • gluten free beer
  • free tickets to awesome events
  • Smartwool socks for running.
  • The Red House. Okay, we totally loved this place before but, they made me amazing gluten free food! And, they also let me know they have gluten free pasta if I ever decide I want mac & cheese. Thank you!
  • golden beets
  • Weight Watchers. Okay yeah, I gave up my membership in November but, I know this works. I gained 5 pounds in March dealing with all the gluten free stress and testing and crap…. but I can use WW for 2 weeks and lose those 5 pounds. It is a lifestyle people, not a diet.
  • Chacos. I loved me some Tevas, but I think I love these more. I wore these all over Napa and even with cute dresses.
  • cute knit dresses from Target
  • berets
  • people who finally get my “health kick” and realize it is more than just a kick. I love you Martin, and I’m glad your not so great blood work has help you see that your ways aren’t so healthy. We love you and want you to grow old with us…
  • Skin Care By Arcona. This is the best my skin has looked in years and it still has a long way to go.
  • polenta
  • Clean Eating. I wish I could eat everything in here, but I can’t.. but they have an index in the back that lets me know what is gluten free.
  • REI. What isn’t to love? I’ve been a member since 1999!
  • thai food
  • wind chimes
  • a clean kitchen… not cleaned by me
  • tights
  • skewed test results
  • hot showers
  • germancha tea
  • radio commercials
