My bed misses me.

leave a comment »

I’m having one of those moments where I’m pretty tired and I’d love to go to bed….
But I still need to make the bed.
And I still need to finish cooking off my garbanzo beans. I love that I can buy a pound of dried garbanzo beans pretty cheap and cook them off myself and stash them in the fridge. I hate the fact that I have to soak them for about 10 hours before cooking them. I either have to soak them overnight, which rarely happens, or soak them all day and cook them at the end of the day. We’ve done the latter and it puts us at 11:10pm.
I’m an old lady and would like to go to sleep.
Actually… my plan is to walk to work tomorrow. Yup, I’m planning on walking the 4 miles to work. I’m kinda stoked and nervous about this. I will have to walk home the same 4 miles, up a steep hill. I’ll have to walk home those 4 miles because Kevin is out of town. I’m also not to sure about this because it puts me out of the house for about 11 hours. Abigail would be home for those 11 hours and would get fed 2 hours after her normal time. Plus, I wore my Frye’s to the dog park and have a blister on my heel that will most likely be gone in the morning due to the homeopathic stuff I took, but still a blister. I’m doing the West Seattle 5k next week, I don’t need any blisters when I do that! I want to do it easily, not all limpy gimpy.
Arg.

My mom and I were on the way to the St. Patrick’s Day Dash and got rear ended. Rear ended while stopped at stop light. In line with tons of other cars, stop and going for the past 15 minutes.

Thank you for paying attention, Mr. SUV driver. Just because the light is green doesn’t mean take your foot of the break and run into the car in front of you.

My neck and lumbar region ache a bit. I’m going to soak in Epsom salts when I’m done with this.  I made a call to my chiropractor. I’d like to see if  he can adjust me sometime before Tuesday, he isn’t in his office until then. Kevin has his personal number and said I could try that as well, but I understand its his day off.

This is the second 5k type thing we have missed. We missed the Jingle Bell 5k due to snow/icy stuff and it being 22°.

Planning for the new one.

leave a comment »

Oh silly New Year’s resolutions. I don’t make them… but I do try to have ideas on what I want to achieve for the following year. But since I spent New Year’s day drinking, and the following day hung over, and worked all weekend… we have ended up at January 5th. By the way, happy Monday.

  • Back on WW. All those little things that have crept back into my diet? You’re g0ne. I CAN lose 50 pounds this year.
  • Do more 5ks. My plan is to run one sometime by the end of the year.
  • Take more interest in other people. I know I’m very self oriented.
  • Clean up! I am trying really hard not to be a slob. It takes work, thought and effort for me.
  • Drink wine, taste it, and take notes. This is mainly for work. I’m trying to move into something different. I need something that has new and fresh information. Also, enjoying wine is nicer than just chugging it.
  • Plan. I need to be better at planning dinners, bills, money, and all things.
  • Spend less, but buy nicer. I need to not buy coffees, magazines and meals when I can do all of it myself. The less I spend on little stuff, the more I can spend on nicer clothes, furniture and trips. Oh, and buy our house.
  • Learn. I want to learn about gardening, running, crafts, canning, composting, house repairs, design, beer and wine, and money.
  • Relax. I have been a little stressed the past few months. I need to chill out a bit.

So, that pretty much sums it up. Happy 2009! Obama becomes President in 15 days, I’m excited to see what the future might and might not look like.

XOXOX

The good of a bad economy?

5k number two? Done!

My mom and I were at Macy’s today. She had seen this coat she had to have. I’ll have to admit it is pretty cute. Everything was on sale! Okay, everything but the DKNY jeans I wear… go figure. But I saw a cute down vest with a hood on it. A hood with fur on it. Totally trendy, I know. It was normally $69.00. It was 40% off and an extra 20% off with a Macy’s account. I told my mom about it and she asked me how much it was. My mom enjoys asking me how much things are after a discount because I don’t do math. But I figured it would be about $28ish dollars. I got it in black because black is practical and less trendy… She bought it and I would pay her next week. When she looked at the receipt it rang up at just over $16. As she dropped me back off in my driveway she told me to consider the vest a gift. Awww! Thanks mom.

Sweet Jesus! Macy’s is practically giving away clothing! 4 for the price of 1? Sweet. Like my mom said, the deals are pretty awesome right now, if you have the extra money to spend. And she does.

This week:
Made a calorimetry from Knitty. Um, the patter is great but to big and after looking at a few forums there seems to plenty of discrepancies with the one shown in the picture, the one the chick is wearing and the pattern.. I mean I have a huge head and plenty of hair and I had to modify it and ad an extra button. But, I will make another one binding on less stitches to start with. I think this might be something I could use for running and walking in the upcoming cold season.

I found my long lost Pumpkin Ale!!! PCC @ Seward Park doesn’t have it, but PCC in Issaquah sure does! Sweet! Anyway, it is made by Buffalo Bill’s Brewery in Hayward, CA.

I’m all registered to do the Pumpkin Push 5k! My mom and I are doing are second 5k this month because I think it is a great idea and we are crazies. Um, I don’t think we’ll be dressing up though.

Martha Stewart’s new Holiday is now out in stores. I love buying her holiday magazines to get great ideas, maybe this year I’ll actually use some of them. Can I just let anyone know I’m usually pretty retarded about Christmas. Some years not as much as others, but indeed I love it. And this year I’ll have a house to decorate! I can have a tree and stuffs.

And on a super really happy notes:
I am no longer in the 210s. I have been really slow at losing weight these past few months but, I’ve lost something like 27 pounds since April and I’m happy with it. I could do better but I could do worse.

We go on vacation in 21 days. Yes, I’m counting. There is snow on the top of Whistler and Blackcomb! (yeah, not a lot but so what.) Yea bitches! I like snow. Yes, we are 30 and going on a fairly cheap vacation with my folks… and I am quite happy to do so.

We’ll be out of our craptastic apartment in a month and a half. Thank god. Any kitchen will be better than the one we currently have. According to the maintenance people there is nothing wrong with our fridge and dishwasher, they are just old. Oh, and how many times can you people try to level our stove and not get it right? Fuck.

Oh wireless router, I’m glad you were replaced!

My dog is afraid of strange men with leaf blowers, but not afraid of my dad with a leaf blower.

When washing laundry with a random towel that was used for cleaning guns, it will take a good 5 or so washings/soakings with water softeners, liquid Dawn, your regular laundry detergent and 2 scented dryer sheets to get the awesome chemical scent out. Thanks sweetie, I love you.

Stroh tastes like burning and butterscotch and christmas… all in one awful fiery gulp. Yuck.

Moleskin doesn’t work.

I’ve committed myself to 2 5ks! The Issaquah Salmon 5k and Jingle Bell Run. Hmm.

Running needs shorts.

leave a comment »

Newcastle + running + epsom salt bath = not to shabby.

I have decided that wearing Converse for 8 hours and then putting on my awesome Mizunos seems to confuse my arches. Are we flat and walking in circles? Or are we supported and running on the sidewalk?

I read something about drinking beer after running, I can’t remember what it said… but I’m determined to have one after every running adventure, even if they are still small. Beer is nice.

I drove my normal walk/run course and I’ve discovered that it is almost 2.5 miles. A 5k will be really easy. Sweet.

I really want a pair of running shorts with pockets. I know that they will be very unflattering, but if you choose to look at me when I’m working out it’s your own damn fault. But for my own reasons, I’m so mortified to try them on. I haven’t worn shorts in public in EONS! 10 yearsish? Like I’ve seen plenty of fat folks wearing elastic waist shorts but they have nice or decent legs. My legs are like sausage links covered in spider veins and bruises. Yum-o. I usually wear my awesome black Lucy capris and pants or my not as awesome blue capris… but shorts? I yearn for the days when my legs are a bit leaner! Shorts damnit, I want some shorts and I want them to look okay.

Eew, and I supposed in a few months I’ll need to buy a new swim suit that is more flattering and shows off my boobs… then one I have now is more for swimming laps and has a high neck.

I’ve started to rub calendula oil on to help my skin stuff issues. Plus, who doesn’t love soft skin?

It rubs the lotion on it’s skin or else it gets the hose again….

New socks for a smaller butt?

leave a comment »

I love my menstrual cycle. Let’s gain 5 pounds at the beginning only to lose it at the end. Yuck.
But, since we lost that five and spring is in the air and I’m feeling kinda motivated.. tomorrow we start back on the whole running and planning for a 5 k bit. Tomorrow, we run, and our butt will jiggle along behind us.

Eek.
I even bought new socks for the occasion. Just so you know, new socks make everything better.

Last night Kevin knocked over my glass of wine. On to my phone. We were saddened mostly by the fact it was the LAST glass.

I had fucked up dreams last night or how about the last 2 nights. But last night I had this dream about acrobat type folks doing stunts on I-405. During the rush hours. They had hopes to raise money for charity? Or to pay for their funerals?
