Fat Doctors?

leave a comment »

Oh hai! Long time no see…

So. I just spent a week with my family in Canada. Fun, relaxing, and lets me know how happy I am that I don’t spend ample time with the fam all at once. My brother has been dating a really nice and quite gal for a while and she came along as well. She’s going to med school…

So here’s my huge question…

Would you take medical advice from an obese doctor?

As some one who has lost a lot of weight and dealt with some medical issues that my doctors seemed unable to help me with, my answer would be a big NO.

Another entry about weight loss…

Fat Stats:

Start of WW in May 2008: 230

Today: 193.4

Goal: 155ish

Weight needed to be lost to reach goal: 38.4

Oh yes. I even took a bunch of time off of WW to get some other crap figured out without gaining more than a 3 pounds.

I’m on vacation for the next 2 weeks. I don’t head back to work until August 16th. I’m not going anywhere rad this August, I’m just chilling at home. I have lots of stuff I plan on doing. But, I’m super excited to get back on track and lose more weight..

I’m slow at losing weight. I’m okay with it being slow. Some weeks I lose 2 pounds, other weeks I gain 1. Either way, I’m down with it. Some weeks I’m all about exercising. Some weeks, I’m all about stuffing my face. Either way, I’m using Weight Watchers because it works for me. It works well for my food allergies and possible disease. I’m also super stoked because WW has a iPhone app and I can record stuff as I’m eating.

Yeah, back to being on vacation. So I’m doing things I want to do. And I want to exercise. I want to roast veggies. I want to read books. I want to get back into really eating healthy and not having to think about it. I’m getting my motorcycle endorsement. I’m cleaning house. I’m turning 32.

Basically, I’m getting out of auto pilot mode. See ya July… Hello August.

Last week, its finally over..

Ooof.

Last week was a gross one…

I had a really bad ear ache for 3 days last week. I finally went to the doctor and asked for some antibiotics. I had a ear infection in my right ear. How do people in their 30s get ear infections? Antibiotics plus probiotics = maintaining gut health, I hope. First antibiotics in 2 and 1/2 years.

Seattle had a day or 2 this week that wee up in the 90s. Eep. I don’t have the right kind of clothes or mindset for that. We retreated to the basement with food from a taco truck or easy to eat foods.  Oh, and all of our fans and extension cords…

I go on vacation in 2 plus weeks. I can’t wait to get away. Wow, this means that summer is almost over. Time sure does run away when you aren’t looking or paying attention.

Last week we gained a pound or two.. I’m only really guessing at this point. Feeling like crap and taking meds really seems to have a strange effect on my body. I plan on exercising this week, last week I didn’t, and track all of my points.

Happy Sunday to you!

November is almost over?! WTF?

I love ending vacation with a cold. Who doesn’t? I gonna sit here with my Umcka cold sipping stuff and some Breath Deep tea. Um, I guess if I am fighting a cold I should be smart and put on socks.

Whistler was nice, as usual. My parents were my parents, as usual…. Going down the water slide in the family pool was more fun than I would have imagined. It snowed 2 days after we left and rained the whole time we were there. I like Canada. I wish I could take a week off every month.

Kevin’s sister and her husband are coming up this weekend. Her husband is going to help Kevin wire the whole house for cable and internets. Hopefully his sister and I can get a chance to go out and do some girly stuff like go window shopping. I’d be happy just to get out and drool over stores full of Christmas decorations.

I have 78 podcasts to listen to, I best get started on them!!

That Burt’s Bees lip balm than managed to get washed and dried… yeah it also managed not to ruin all of my clothes it was washed with!!! Score, we can’t afford to replace much of anything right about now.

oh vacation, who doesn’t love you?

Tomorrow we get pile into my mom’s Honda and drive to Whistler. Yes, I chose an education and have spent years paying it off and my idea of a vacation is one where someone else foots most of the bill. I’m 30 years old and sometimes I’m kind of lame.

This morning Kevin asked me about socks. “Are all of my boot socks clean?” How the hell should I know. Socks some how seems to be a very reoccurring topic in my life. 1) do I have any clean ones? 2)should I buy some new ones? 3)why are you wearing mine? 4)I forgot mine, can I borrow some of yours? 5)ooh, these are pretty with stripes! I currently am washing clothes and hopefully all the socks in the house… any sock without a know match gets the shove. I want all of you old random socks out before we move to the new house.

5 awesome things about vacationing in whistler

  1. no need for a clock or watch
  2. the possibility of sitting in an outdoor hot tub while it is snowing
  3. the awesome view of mountains covered in snow pretty much north, south, east, and west
  4. not having to answer my cell phone
  5. as long as you can still walk upright, you can pretty much drink as much as you can afford
  6. What diet?

Hurry up everything.

Some days, like yesterday, are best when ended with some Guns N’ Roses cranked up and 3/4 of a bottle of red wine. High class, I know.

Today is a day off! It sure is welcome. But, a day off isn’t nearly as fun when it happens to be the first day you are able to start moving. Blah. I’d much rather spend it drinking a few french presses of coffee, thanks.

So this new little house has some interesting things to note:

  • new windows
  • new furnace
  • no garage but a carport
  • no shed
  • no garbage disposal
  • some awesome glass door knobs
  • a very ugly padded toilet seat with embroidered butterflies on the lid
  • a yard that needs a lot of help
  • hardwood floors upstairs
  • a newly finished basement
  • no dishwasher
  • a very trashy house next door
  • no fences on the side yards to keep our dog out of the street
  • no mailbox
  • no blinds
  • overhead lights in the bedrooms!
  • chain link fences

11 days left until vacation! I can has vacation?!?! Heck yes. I need to find a knitting project and a book to take with me. Um, I was just looking at the Whistler website and they said the valley temp was at 32F and the mid mountain temp was 46F? Oh really? Something tells me that is off. Come on snow, I’ll be there soon, hurry up and snow in the village!! Oh hey, and exchange rate, if you just want to keep rising, I’m down with that too. When I was in Victoria in August the exchange rate was pretty even, now it’s at $1.30?! Sweet.

As much as a love all the fun internets jargon, I feel pretty stupid typing it out.. Like “O RLY?”

Update Dump

This week:
Made a calorimetry from Knitty. Um, the patter is great but to big and after looking at a few forums there seems to plenty of discrepancies with the one shown in the picture, the one the chick is wearing and the pattern.. I mean I have a huge head and plenty of hair and I had to modify it and ad an extra button. But, I will make another one binding on less stitches to start with. I think this might be something I could use for running and walking in the upcoming cold season.

I found my long lost Pumpkin Ale!!! PCC @ Seward Park doesn’t have it, but PCC in Issaquah sure does! Sweet! Anyway, it is made by Buffalo Bill’s Brewery in Hayward, CA.

I’m all registered to do the Pumpkin Push 5k! My mom and I are doing are second 5k this month because I think it is a great idea and we are crazies. Um, I don’t think we’ll be dressing up though.

Martha Stewart’s new Holiday is now out in stores. I love buying her holiday magazines to get great ideas, maybe this year I’ll actually use some of them. Can I just let anyone know I’m usually pretty retarded about Christmas. Some years not as much as others, but indeed I love it. And this year I’ll have a house to decorate! I can have a tree and stuffs.

And on a super really happy notes:
I am no longer in the 210s. I have been really slow at losing weight these past few months but, I’ve lost something like 27 pounds since April and I’m happy with it. I could do better but I could do worse.

We go on vacation in 21 days. Yes, I’m counting. There is snow on the top of Whistler and Blackcomb! (yeah, not a lot but so what.) Yea bitches! I like snow. Yes, we are 30 and going on a fairly cheap vacation with my folks… and I am quite happy to do so.

We’ll be out of our craptastic apartment in a month and a half. Thank god. Any kitchen will be better than the one we currently have. According to the maintenance people there is nothing wrong with our fridge and dishwasher, they are just old. Oh, and how many times can you people try to level our stove and not get it right? Fuck.

I’m totally loving NPR’s Wait Wait.. Don’t Tell Me. I’ve just started to download the podcasts again, it’s nice to have a working iPod again.

My mom, grandma and I went to Victoria for 2 days. My mom and I had high tea at The Empress Hotel. My mom and I got to feed baby ducks, out of our hands. I bought all sorts of awesome tea from Murchie’s tea.

A woman is coming over tomorrow morning, she’s bringing a possible dog for a us to adopt. He’s part rat terrier and part blue heeler. Dog number 2, we’re looking for you! We went to animal shelters last week, I cried.

I gained 5 pound on my vacation. But, I am now back on track… I really over ate for a week.

A Saturday off!

leave a comment »

mmm, today included a Theo Chocolate tour and lunch at Tawon Thai. Free chocolate samples and a total carbohydrate lover’s dream!
(it’s 5:05, I’m stuffed still! And out of points.)

I find it strange that people ask how I managed to get a Saturday off, the same way they could… ask for it off. Dummies. Although, the person who asked that seemed the most put off by it has only been with the company for less than 6 months. She can’t use any vacation time yet and is at the bottom of the seniority list. I on the other hand get a day of vacation each paycheck and have 6 years of seniority over her. I can afford to take a random day off here and there.

I have at least 100 vacation hours and probably at least 100 of sick time. And I’ve probably used at least 25 to 30 hours of both in the past 5 months.

breakfast to go with 30

leave a comment »

Today Kevin turned 30. 3-0.

Happy Birthday sweetie!

I got up around 8:30 and he stated that he thought I was sleeping in. After getting up for the past few days at 5:20, 8:30 was sleeping in.

I went out to the Alki Bakery to get him a cinnamon roll. Rumor has it they are the best in the city. And the rumor was right! Cream cheese type icing! No rasins! It was only $2.25?!

(this photo isn’t mine)

They also have a location on 1st Ave!?! Holy crap. As Kevin said, it was made with cinnamon and yum. When I said it was a place we could start to frequent, he said we probably shouldn’t. True that.

I also took him a breve mocha to go with.

I HAVE THE NEXT 5 DAYS OFF! Why? Because I’m smart and I use my vacation hours, and I have something like 115 of them to use.
